I know I know….dang Rich, you sure are doing alot of DLC reviews instead of full game reviews lately. Ever since I got back into the 360 mod scene I’ve been playing mucho games, just not enough time to finish them. Anyway, Sony gave away the first Heavy Rain DLC to the cats who pre-ordered the game. I really dig Heavy Rain so I’m taking my time with it and a review will come soon. Here’s my thoughts on Heavy Rain Chonicles 1:The Taxidermist. 8/10
The Good – This chapter pits you into one of the main character’s shoes. I’m not sure whether to assume it takes place before the main game or not. Anyway, she’s a news reporter, your assignment is to interview someone who’s a prime suspect in the Origami Murders, the major key to Heavy Rain’s plot line. No one’s home, so you do a little breaking in to do some “research”….what ensues are some of the creepiest, tense, edge of my seat moments that I’ve had in all of gaming. For 5 bux, it’s a little pricey, but what an experience I had. I could describe more of what happens, but it would take away from the mystery, tension, and in the end, fun, that I had going through this. If you’re REALLY into Heavy Rain, which I am, it’s definitely worth it.
The Bad – My first time through, it took me maybe 20 mins., which is pretty short. This can be completed in less time than that. But you might wanna go back and see the different outcomes.
The Ugly – The demo for Heavy Rain is a lot longer. Well, a demo is supposed to make you want the game….but still, kinda lame.
Here you get to play through what was just a flashback for Chris in the main game. Being a huge Resident Evil fan, I’ve always maintained that I really liked RE5, but didn’t love it. Upon reflection though, it was a damn fine game once you got over the flaws. At 5 bux and available for the platforms that RE5 showed up on(not sure about the PC version though), this DLC is totally worth it and warrants a 9/10 from the double R.
The Good – The setting takes you back to a mansion that’s very reminiscent of the one in the first game. Except with all the modern audio/visual upgrades introduced in RE5, and man, this is still one damn fine looking game. Very impressive. You get teamed up with Jill again, giving you a welcome throwback feeling. The zombies make a brief appearance bringing some awesome jump scares. Speaking of scares, while the main game was pretty much devoid of any creepiness, this DLC brings the creepy back, and it’s good. My first time through, it took me just over an hour to complete. Once you know what to do, or if you’re an expert, it’ll probably take you a half hour.
The Bad – You can’t save your game….WTF?!?…yeah I know it’s short, but sometimes you gotta turn off the game man. If I’m taking my time and I’m a half hour in, I don’t wanna have to do it again later….which did happen to me. Whatever RE5 issues you’ve had, controls or whatever, won’t be any different here.
The Ugly – Man, I wish all of RE5 was like this….I had a good time, it was creepy, gorgeous, and made me miss the days when you can easily find a creepy game.
Assassin’s Creed 2 was one of my favorite games of ’09. There’s more than enough game there, so DLC really isn’t necessary, but there were a couple ‘memory chapters’ in the game that went ‘corrupted’ if you get the ‘Animus’ lingo. Word around the campfire is that the devs couldn’t polish up these chapters in time for the game’s release, therefore, with the power of the internet, we can get them later. The 1st one just came out on Xbox Live and the PSN, it’s 4 bux for an hour of so of gameplay…not too bad. The Raw rating, 7/10.
The Good – In case you couldn’t get enough AC2, here’s a little more. If you like the fight system, then there’s plenty of that to do here. One mission had me timed, I was able to pull it off with 3 seconds left on the clock…while it really shouldn’t have taken me that long, it was quite thrilling to pull it off in such fashion. A character that you’re briefly introduced to in the main game gets to be fleshed out here, and she’s an awesome character at that. The main game had only one flying mission, once you were done you couldn’t do it anymore, with Battle of Forli, you have the option to freefly from a spot anytime you want. Overall, pretty worth it if you’re a big AC2 fan.
The Bad – Even if you are a big AC2 fan, you’re not missing alot by skipping this…as I said, it’s worth it, but…no mind blowing revelations or anything like that. Nothing particularly new to do….and just in case you’re not a fan of the fighting system, then you really want to stay away from this. It’s only like an hour long, and ends pretty abruptly, leaving us hanging till next month for the next chapter. Once you finish the missions, you can’t go back and play them again.
The Ugly – Me, stumbling with the controls trying get my bearings….while I got pretty good at the game, I finished it what, a month and a half ago? I went back to the training grounds just get smooth at it again.
Yup, the day I’ve been waiting for as well as other Grand Theft Auto junkies. Exclusively on Xbox Live Marketplace(for $20) and bundled with “The Lost And Damned” on disc(for $40) as GTA: Episodes from Liberty City for the Xbox 360. Here’s a trailer(language a bit NSFW) introducing you to the guy you’ll be playing as, Luis Lopez….oh yeah, I got my hands on this yesterday, and I’m lovin it 🙂
I’m not exactly sure about the future. I’ve seen every Back to the Future so I suppose I have some keen awareness of generic time travel principals. You probably wont see me writing the “How to Time Travel” for Dummies, so Peter Molyneux the man we all love to hate probably wouldn’t have hired me to create the latest DLC for Fable 2.
Good: I hate to list this as a good, but I will. We get more Fable game play which is never a bad thing. I’m not one to change things when it works just for the sake of change. There’s more fun storytelling and zany blu-man group characters to kill. You’ll get some new clothes to go with the clothes that you don’t wear already. You’ll also get a solid 4 hours of game play if you race through this. It took me a span of 3 days of 4 hour play session to beat this which I found very delightful. You are given the ability to reskin your puppy which is beyond adorable as I became really attached to my dog. The dungeon’s are fun and engaging. They unfold before you instead of just running from end to end killing things inbetween.
Bad: Clothing. Whatever, I’ve mentioned this as my main beef with Fable 2. The rehashing of the gauntlet was cool but not needed. The single biggest thing is starting out in black and white. Be prepared after playing through the vibrant colors of the normal game that it turns into this. It’s part of the story but one that really needs to be noted.
Ugly: Nothing to note.
….you bought all 5 of the Fallout 3 DLC expansions. On October 1st, Microsoft will be sending out a token to those cats who showed Fallout 3 that extra love, or let it make you it’s ho (like me!). On it’s own the theme is 240 Microsoft points on the Xbox Live Marketplace, which translates to 3 bux real ends I think….I dunno, I like the themes and all, but dang M$, that is steep.
MAN are we jazzed about this release. Only a few weeks away too! Anyways, the full tracklist was revealed in game informer.

We talk about more Killzone 2, Splosion Manboy?, Ps3 price cuts, Mothership Zeta, Xbox Modding, Spinal Tap Rock Band DLC, New Releases, The GI Joe Movie, Top 5 bosses and Top 5 Characters, Join us for the 22nd podcast!
Looks like we’re going to get all the glam and rock any Spinal Tap fan could ever want. While not being as enamoured with this movie as say every other Musician on the planet, I prefer Half Baked or Friday type movies for my humor, or maybe I’ve just met far too many musicians who are ACTUALLY LIKE that movie. In any case. here’s the full track list.
“Funky Sex Farm (Funky) Sex Farm” Spinal Tap
“Listen to the Flower Children Reggae Stylee (Listen to the) Flower Children (Reggae Stylee)”
“Cups and Cakes”
“Gimme Some Money”
“Rock ‘n’ Roll Creation”
“Tonight I’m Gonna Rock You Tonight”
MTV Multiplayer Blog has put up a mini interview with one of the main guys behind the latest DLC, Mothership Zeta. Here’s some deets!
“Mothership Zeta is full of the most high tech weaponry in the game. It includes a Shock Baton for melee fighters, multiple new firearms including an Alien Atomizer, a pistol, and the Alien Disintegrator, a new rifle. There’s also a new grenade type, a Cryo Grenade, which freezes enemies for a short period of time. On top of that there are new unique weapons, and a new heavy weapon.”
And some on it’s mission specific perk, “Xenotech Expert.”
“It increases the damage you do with alien weapons, including the Alien Blaster if the player had found that in the wasteland.”
No level cap increase though….it’s all good, I’m still messin with ‘Point Lookout’, there’s as much in the way of side quests as there are the main quest. Hopefully ‘Mothership Zeta’ will give me the same enjoyment. I’m confident that Bethesda will come through 🙂
Everyone wants power armor in Fallout 3. And by everyone I mean everyone with a brain. For those who don’t, well you’re just not RPing correctly. Ok. On top of it looking cool there are great bonus’s to energy weapon’s, damage resistance, rad resistance, str and charisma bonus’s. In game there are currently a few types of Power Armor. First though you’ll have to get the training to wear it. I got my power armor before Operation Anchorage came out which rewards you with the Winterized Power Armor. It comes with a whopping 10 million hp making it virtually impossible to have to repair it. By doing the Operation Anchorage route you’ll get the Power Armor Perk and wont have to do the normal chain to get it. Although the first way is part of the Main Quest chain. You’ll come across it anyways just your choice. I’ll take the easy route if it’s open.
The only caveat is you have to run through the anchorage sim without any power armor. That’s probably not too big of an issue though. If you do it the normal means (why are you reading this go buy Operation Anchorage already!), you’ll have to go through a series of quests on the main story line. It occurs after “waters” of life on this quest chain. Once you gain the ability to wear the power armor.
One doing that quest you’ll trigger a cool event that I wont name and you’ll start to see Enclave Soliders and their juicy Power Armor. Most will just be the Normal Enclave Armor, but some will have the Tesla Power armor with the electrical shoulders. Check it out!
The Hellfire Armor, the last of the enclave power armor appears in the Broken Steel xpac in abudance. There are also two more instances of getting the power armor in the game. One is in “The Pitt” DlC, purchaseable with 100 steel ignot’s to Everett on the side quest Mill Worker. If you are a quest and achievement junky like myself you can also find the T-51b armor through the quest “You gotta Shoot ‘Em in the head”
Hope that helps you in your quest to find the power armor! Feel free to send any questions into us and we’d be happy to share our thoughts! firstname.lastname@example.org
Little late on this one, but last weeks Rock Band DLC was headlined by Foreigner. Feels like the first time, yeah? I wouldn’t have put in Weapon of choice for BRMC but hey, that’s just me. It’s not like Rock and Roll never happened or was a big thing for them.
“Blue Morning, Blue Day” Foreigner
“Feels Like the First Time” Foreigner
“Weapon of Choice” BRMC
“Hey John, What’s Your Name Again?” Dear and the Headlights
“Sweet Talk” The Devil Wears Prada
“Image of the Invisible” Thrice
Just when we thought Bethesda was done with Fallout 3 DLC, they go and announce more, we don’t mind 🙂 Point Lookout was released on 6/23/09 for Xbox360 and PC. The PS3 version should be out later this year.
The Good – More Fallout 3, takes place in Maryland, new locales such as swamps and woods freshen up the scenery once again. Feels like a natural extension to the Fallout 3 world, not just an enclosed area like The Pitt was. New enemies reminiscent of the baddies in The Hills Have Eyes and Wrong Turn, are challenging and bring a sense of creepiness in the beginning. Really cool moment that I can’t describe, it would be spoiling to my fellow Fallout3 freaks 🙂 Going back later on, there’s a bunch of side quests that probably equal the amount of gameplay that the main quest delivers, that made this DLC extra fun and my 2nd fav of the Fallout 3 stuff(#1 being Broken Steel).
The Bad – Keeping in line with the other pieces of DLC, feels way too short, definitely could’ve used more quests. More drab than the regular wasteland, lots of fog. While the quests are fun as usual, I didn’t feel that the stories associated with them were that interesting. Main quest tries to throw in conflict that doesn’t affect your karma in any way, and is ultimately pointless no matter which side you choose. The loot here is the weakest of the DLC bunch, the big ‘prize’ at the end, while powerful, is just ‘meh’ on the cool scale.
The Ugly – Storing the DLC on my old 20GB hard drive…..what a pain to clear stuff to make enough room for it and room for the Fallout 3 game, cuz, well….I hate the loud sound of the 360 spinning the disc, so I install.
In case the Fallout 3 hounds forgot, Point Lookout dropped this past tuesday for Xbox360 and PC. Regular rules apply, 800 MS points(or 10 bux) weighing in at about 500 megs or so. I got my download on last night, so when I get more time…..well, Fallout 3 will destroy it 🙂 Looks to be doing solid on the metacritic at 83 atm, and thank the lawd, doesn’t seem to have the problems the last 2 pieces of DLC had when they launched.
So you just got a new xbox 360 and you’re not staring at the wall wondering what in the world to purchase. Maybe the 59.99 new game price tag is scaring you, maybe you don’t want to pay MORE on top of the new system you just bought, maybe you have to run or you are ok with spending money for what’s considered to be the best games. Well here’s a little guide towards purchasing games for the new xbox 360 owner. I’m going to post this with the thought that my partner in crime will add something in the comments! 🙂
Away we go.
1. Gears of War – Exclusive to Xbox – First person shooter, Mature Language. This is the game that really kicked off the xbox 360 craze in my book. This game is to the 360 what Halo was to the original Xbox. I read a stat that nearly all of the new consoles in the year this game out were bought with a copy of Gears of War. It’s a Third person with a switch to First person shooter set in a post apocolyptic world. You kill aliens while cursing, yelling and taking a heck of a lot of cover. The graphics are gorgeous. It’s also a moderate length game. Only the most extreme gamers will finish this in one setting though. You’re looking at 12 or so hours. The best part is that there is a good amount of replay value due to the harder settings. See Also Halo 3, Gears of War 2, Rainbow 6 Vegas, and Call of Duty.Price 19.99 used.
2. Lego Star Wars – Not Exclusive to any system – RPG-light action. Family oriented. This is a wonderful game for the non shooter/blood types. Maybe you want to jump from your nintendo days into something a little more. This game is a two button game solving puzzles and jumping over spaces on your own or with a teammate. Sound familiar? The story is easy to digest and very light humor that will leave you giggling in parts. You can easily put in 80-100 hours. About 8x the normal game. You can also subsiute Lego Star Wars with Indiana jones, batman, or the new Lego Harry Potter (no release date). The Lego Star Wars one is considered to be the best of the 3 due to the following of a well known story. Price 17.99
3. Grand Theft Auto 4 – Non-exclusive to any system – Heavy Violence,Graphic Language,Sexual Content. If you loved any gta game before this, this game will drive you wild with excitement. I think our kid is still giggling over this game and it’s been a year since release. There is a MASSIVE world to run around in. You’ll do any number of jobs within the city. The radio stations are as varied as they are epic in it’s quality. The cutscenes are no joke. The violence is over the top so this is not geared towards the faint of heart. Price 39.99
4. Fallout 3 – Core gameplay not exclusive to any system but DLC is exclusive for a time. Heavy Violence. We constantly talk up this game on the podcast. So much so we devoted an entire one to it. It’s extremely easy to pick up for the uninitiated gamer though it make take a hour or two to get “into” the game. It starts off slow but when it picks up, it’s an EXPLOSION. There is enormous amounts of game-play in either 3rd person or 1st person and you’re not exclusivly set to either setting. There are multiple updates for the game that cost 10$ more that add more content into the game. You can specialize your character to have abilities and weapons that make you unique in your own way. I’ve talked to multiple people on how they play the game and everyone says something different. See also : Obvilion (fantasy version) and Mass Effect. Price 54.99
5. Fable 2 – Exclusive to xbox360 – Mature theme’s, Action-adventure. This is a “role playing game” of sorts. To me this game is a almost 100. With the only exception being lack of clothing you are given. It’s THAT close to being perfect for me. The game-play can be challenging at times but 90% of your game-play is playing part of a wonder full fantasy story line. You are given vast expanses of land, though not as large as other games, to explore. You’re given a dog that does commands like fetch a ball or play dead….And you’re given a dog. Which is so awesome it’s worth mentioning twice. Casting spells is easy, maybe too easy, you just press and hold a button but still fun. You can make your spells stronger through leveling up screens and nearly every choice you make has a outcome on your story. It’s WoW without the addiction. There is DLC for this game but not to the extent of Fallout 3. Price 39.99 used
Looks like your favorite hoodlums are feeling the pinch in “these tough economic times”, heck they even put it in their PRESS RELEASE. No kidding. Go look. This will be the third and final DLC for Saints Row and FREE. No lies y’all. And no, you dont have to return a favor (see first born) for getting it for free. Lots of new Tatoo’s and Clothing choices. I dont see tim’s in there..nor do I see Wimberlands either. Boom. This is the most silly picture i’ve ever seen.
Rock Band’s new release really drops some heavy stuff on it’s users with the mega release of Iron Maiden Pack. “Wasted Years” Iron Maiden
“The Number of the Beast” (Original Version)

Ok So in college I had a roomate. He went to LOTS of phish shows, played LOTS of phish ALL.DAY.LONG and did lots of things one doesn’t do when police and parental units are hanging around. Wilson was one of the songs he played and one I actually got into by phish. They are still on the whole a little too “noodly” for me but i’m glad to see them make an appearance and a much beloved song amongst phishheads. The other bigger, Coheed and Cambria, I find the guys voice unusual. At least rush could lay claim to being Canadian but this dude is from New York. Noones voice sounds like that on their own. And TV on the Radio, i was going to say they sound like MGMT or something “hip” and kind of “80’s” sounding. Whatever. Somebody likes them! I’ll step offa my soapbox. Here’s the list of the new DLC for Rock band on June 2nd.
“Shimmer & Shine” – Ben Harper and Restless 7
“A Favor House Atlantic” – Coheed and Cambria
“The Running Free” – Coheed and Cambria
“Wilson Live” – Phish
“Steady at the Wheel” – Shooter Jennings
“Wolf Like Me” – Tv on the Radio
Ok, so the zombies are the new moustachey eyetalians but that’s ok since it’s in the Fallout 3 world. To all my brethren in Power Armor, or Tesla Armor our next battle awaits. And this time in ZOMBIE LAND MWWWWWWWWWWWWAAAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH. Why does this scream a October release? Is it the zommmbieeeee’s. Ok. enough with that zombie smeg. The new trailer for the Point Lookout dlc looks pretty spooky if you ask me. I might go all RP with this and wear some wastelander gear instead of my power armor. That will last about .2 seconds though i’m sure.
Bewm, this is looking to be the Warner Brothers blu ray choice or Wal Mart pulling out of the HDDVD sales market for Rock Band. I mean. Really. Is there any bigger of a franchise than the beatles? Yeah World of Warcrafter’s, y’all aient got nothing on Stadium tours. So we’ve been seeing the other instruments for the Beatles Rock Band game, John’s Ric, Paul’s hofner bass, and George’s gretsch but we’re minus ringo’s famous kit. So. Here is it. I’ll go on record and state that the drums are the easiest parts to play minus say I feel fine. Here’s part of the song list for Beatles rock band.
“Back in the U.S.S.R.”
“Here Comes the Sun”
“I Am the Walrus”
“I Feel Fine”
“I Saw Her Standing There”
“I Want to Hold Your Hand”
All you need is love will also be an xbox360 exclusive (hur hur) available for download. Additionally the game will include additional DLC, including full albums. With Abbey Road being released for the game shortly after release.
