Ratchet and Clank – A Crack In Time

Did anyone who played this game think that this game just goes on and on? I’ve been playing this game for nearly 9 months now in various spurts but there have been times where I sat down and destroyed swaths of this game. Maybe it’s the side missions to get zoni’s or upgrades, or the thunderdome deal but holy cow this game is going on and on! Not that it’s really a bad thing. It does have that old side scrolling battletoads elements where you simply just destroy things in hilarious and imaginative ways. Even still after awhile I am getting tired of blowing shit up. Is this because it’s meant to be the end of a chapter in R+C history? You tell me, I cant really tell.

Gamescom 2010 – PS3 Trailers!

What the hell is Gamescom anyway?? According to the wiki, it sounds like a European E3 of sorts that started a couple years ago. We probably posted stuff from it last year….can’t live in the past man! Haha, anyways, some new stuff on the PS3 front.

Resistance 3 live action trailer. Hmmm. Taking a cue from those live action Halo spots are we?? Ehh, who cares. I’m in the ‘loooove Resistance 1’ camp, part 2….not so much(did I review that? I better jump on it). Hopefully 3 brings me back around.

New Ratchet & Clank trailer. I love those games, I really do….the last game was awesome, it just doesn’t have that compelling aspect to make me wanna finish it right away. What I’m saying is that I wanna finish it before this comes out….and what I’m also saying is-*screech* ooh, 4-player online co-op!

Another InFAMOUS 2  trailer, cool. The first game had some real promise, but janky battle/enemy design kept me from loving it. Let’s hope the sequel rights all the wrongs.

Alan Wake – First impressions.

I popped in the new game Alan Wake a few nights ago and haven’t picked it up since. To be honest – I’m a tad bit afraid of this game. Mostly because I play in the dark and have a ghost inhabiting my house (his name is Nestor) but also because I’m a total pussball.  You can make fun of me, it’s fine. Look at this photo and tell me you either don’t Laugh or get weird-ed out.

I’ll go back and give it a shot after the 10 other games i’ve got lined up, Ratchet and Clank and Bioshock 2 to name a FEW, but I’ll be sure to keep it to day time play.ha ha. I will say this, the hokey story line taken straight out of a Steven King fanboi site has me laughing. It’s a lighthouse – but I dont know what it means – need to find cover. fast. It’s like  how I feel with the tv show V…they’re purposly guiding you on how you should feel. And …after lost i like the guessing game.

I dunno. You tell me. Is Alan Wake too scarey?

What did YOU get for christmas?

As I sit here eating a hot pocket that is slightly undercooked I can safely say I dont know what you got but but I can tell you what I got. Though, it’s still to be determined what else I will get as I am getting a 3rd christmas ala the wifey’s mudda. I got Ratchet and Clank’s “A Crack in time”. It’s not so unlike the previous Ratchet and Clank game and I for one subscribe to the if it aient broke don’t fix it creed in life. That said, I’m not opposed to upgrades and they have upgraded the game. You can spot these new features within the first hours of the gameplay. I wont go into these features because well, that’s for the PODCAST as we say around the MCC. There’s still two games left on my list that I really wanted and it’s a bit much to expect even those. So, I may be buying these on my own. Hell the God Of War collection is only 39.99 not too much to pay even after dropping a few hundred on family. =0

So to the 30 of you a day that read out blog, what did YOU get for christmas?

The folks over at the playstation blog have put a gi-normous (read big) post on the new Ratchet and Clank Game “Crack in Time” with box art and some screens. We’re pretty pumped about the new game, I just got into the series and rich a long time (what game hasen’t he dropped the saying “i’ve been playing this a long time”) on. It’s shaping up to be a great holiday video game season, we’ll be doing a three part podcast about this starting this week!

Oh and…there’s a pre-order deal going on too….

from the blog..

‘Discovery Package’ – Explore the Insomniac Moon with a special level that resembles the layout of Insomniac Games’ studio offices. A fan favorite, the Moon is filled with content that didn’t quite make the final game, sort of like deleted scenes on DVDs. You can earn this unlockable on your own, but Insomniac certainly won’t make it easy for ya!

‘Power Package’ – Up your arsenal with an exclusive weapon skin for one of Ratchet’s weapons along with extra hit points and Ratchet’s brand new Cryo Mine Glove.

‘Bolt Package’ – Bolster your bolt count with 5,000 free bolts care of Ratchet’s most bolt-centric power-ups, the Bolt Magnetizer and Box Basher.

‘Space Package’ – Drift off into space with an exclusive hot rod skin for Ratchet’s ship, the Aphelion, along with 5,000 free bolts and an exclusive Ratchet & Clank PlayStation Home Avatar skin

GBU game review for Ratchet and Clank Tools of Destruction

Good: The weapons. In no other series will you find as entertaining of weapons as you do in Ratchet. Well..I’m kidding. I’m sure our wonder-kid would love to correct me about some game released in 1985 that did it before. Blowing up things has never been so much fun. Your weapons upgrade with more use, and also can be tricked out to do more damage. Though anyone whose played this franchise I’m sure will be aware of these already. The game is what’s called “old school” though, is 15 years ago really that old school? Are we just that old? It’s a game that’s more focused on fun than beating other people up and full-filling your childhood urge to beat up the playground bully that you never got to by beating someone in a online format. I’ll just put it that way. I like the bitter this morning. Put extra in it in my coffee this morning.
The story line is fun, and even at times entertaining. It wont be winning awards like Star Wars Force Unleashed but it’s fun.

Bad: The sixaxis controls are either good. or annoying. You’ll have to open a door so up will pop this little electrical board. Or that’s what I call it. You’ll have to juggle this little ball as the electrical current. It can get frustrating the 10th time you do it. Keep it at 5.

Ugly: The cutscenes after you fly in on your jet. You see the same scene twice. With a woosh. Then as ratchet gets to the planet the music just stops. Silence. Then he lands. woosh again. Then he jumps out. It’s all so oddly cropped.
