Screen Shots for Isle of Conquest

Some new screen shots have been leaked for the Isle of Conquest Battleground. One is of the bg itself and one of the extension to the map. The map is really worrysome to me. There’s forever that “honor farming” that goes on and since the map is so vast, are we going to see a repeat of AV? I think more than likely. At least after the first month when the “newness” wears off and people start complaining. I do in fact like the objectives that are being added and I’m one of the few in favor of vehicle combat. I’m going to take a shot in the dark and say the alliance side is the blue, duh right? So the imbalance of the map right off the bat is whatever is that place on the right side. The trip to it is equally as fast for the horde side as it is alliance. Yet the i’m going to guess machine shop in near the horde base is equally as close to them but much further than the alliance. The alliance’s, i’m going to guess machine shop again, is in front of the horde base. So much for equal sides. I was thinking of resubbing to check this out but, it’s crack as we all know. And I may just be trippin’ on serious stuff. I haven’t even played the bg so who knows what the kiddies will do to it.

The images are too big for displaying so I’ll just put down some links.

Tier 9 item sets

Mmo champion has reported that Tier 9 items will have different models for each faction. Alliance and Horde. He goes on to explain with an example that I’ll dumb down. Paladins have three different talent trees, one for healing, one for tanking and one for just damage. And one for each level. Remember blizzard implimented more mini tiered raiding in Wotlk? Well that means that there are now 18 sets for Paladins.

One would think that it’s different recolorings. So that Horde get Red and alliance get blue themed items. And I’m OK with that, I didn’t like everyone looks exactly the same in game at higher levels. Cool yeah? It’s the little things y’all. For that vast amount of people that don’t raid, and I’m sure it’s well over 1/2, this news is whatever.

New World of Warcraft Raid “Crusaders’ Coliseum”

Blizzard released the details on the new Raid and Dungeon for World of Warcraft. This appears to be more stuff released for the Argent Crusade, which is the duh of the year, so…IM JUST SAYIN. This new tribute thing is sure to cause much guild drama. I can just sense it. I almost want to recreate my account just to witness this event, the guild drama, it’s sure to be almost as epic as the story of the girl who dated a guy in game who turned out to be a girl and in fact her room-mate. (!!!)

In the next major content patch, the construction of the Crusaders’ Coliseum on the Argent Tournament grounds will be complete, and it will hold new challenges for players. We’d like to share some details on the new dungeon, which represents the next tier of content for the game, but keep in mind that this is still in development and subject to change. The Crusaders’ Coliseum will include:

* New epic 10- and 25-player raid dungeon with five encounters, with each encounter being unlocked one week at a time
* A more intuitive structure for harder encounters. This raid dungeon will have four different versions: 10-player, 25-player, 10-player Heroic, and 25-player Heroic, with each one using a separate lockout.
* Introduction of the Crusaders’ Tribute! Each of the Heroic mode instances has a new tribute system that will limit players on the number of attempts they get in the Coliseum each week to present a greater challenge for the most battle-hardened heroes. Additional rewards can be earned depending on the number of attempts left in the tribute run each week when the final boss is defeated.
* New 5-player dungeon with three encounters that will include Champion’s Seals as each one is defeated
* New tier of armor and weapons that are modeled with Alliance- or Horde-specific themes

World of Warcraft Mountain Dew Commercial

Ok ok. So this is not gaming per se but, I find this funny. Many wow has just blown up on such a epic scale. The commerical features two girls, one of which turns into a MALE ORC? Ouch. Yeah, I was a pre-op orc in the wow commercial and had surgery IN LINE. Was that going too far in graphic detail? The Night elf totally ends up totally getting the last jab in before the commerical ends with a lazor beam from her staff. That’s not really in game but, lazor beams and night elfs mean MOONKINS. YAY druids.

World of Warcraft Class Review : Shaman

Pulled from blizzard’s website they have announced the first class review for Shamans with Greg Street. known as ghostcrawler on the forums. This is the first in a series of Class Q+A’s for World of Warcraft. Man, this is one heck of a interview to me as I played a shaman Heavily. Although one can say I played everything heavily. 🙂 Anyways. It’s these little things that make me appreciate blizzard for what they do. Although I do believe it fuels the fire for kid’s to complain. Something akin to ” SEE THE DEVS KNOW ITS A PROBLEM THAT IS WHY I’M NOT THE BEST EVAR”. The shaman is an interesting jumping off point because they’re considered a hybird although you can go “purely” down one talent tree and focus on that. Elemental for caster Damage, Enhancement for Melee and Restoration for Healing. I’ve tried all three and failed miserably at all three. Kidding. The class is also has been historically the least played one but most valued. I found my shaman to be as easy as the rest of the classes to level, if not easier due to all the buffs I could give myself for totems. Out of mana? Drop Manaspring, go to the bathroom, and I’m full. Bewm.

They do focus on a lot of PVP questions and that cannot be “balanced” in my humble opinion. There are so many X factors. What it’s doing is changing the normal part of the game and I’ll give one example: ‘too much burst damage’ , they mention the shamans “kill the wounded guy” role and that’s because they can do a quick set of spells together as either damage spec to take about 1/3 health off of you. Hence the kill the wounded guy mentality. The biggest problem is that to drop all 4 totems shamans were capable of dropping it meant you wasted 8 seconds to do so. 8 seconds for that rogue who has already half healthed you to take the other half off. So It’s interesting to note that they are toying the idea of making all 4 totems drop at once. He says it’s a buff and yeah, I agree. That would be a big time game changer. How they manage to pull that off is going to be tuff. Maybe a 3.5 second cast, talented? They we’ll face a interupptable challenge. Someone shocks me and then I cant cast.

Totem stomping is also mentioned and man it’s pretty disheartening to have a hunter or warlock bash your totems in a second due to them having a macro for their pet. Oh Well. Whatever, pvp is just, as I mentioned, a mini game for low esteemed kids to feel self rightous about because in their own life they are just “normal” and now they one “upped” you or griefed you. I’ll never get that mentality. It’s sad in some ways to see blizzard cater to this crowd. But that’s the crowd that pays the bills. You have to. Anyways, check it out. It’s a great read.

New Night Elf Druid Animation

Blizzard has released the new Night Elf Druid forms for World of Warcraft. I leveled up a Feral Druid to 70, then moved her to Balance at 70 and got to 72. Then Dual spec’d to Moonkin and Resto. I had a TON of fun! In some ways seeing these forms makes me want to play my nelf but…not completely. 🙂 Anyways, here’s a small screen!

New Tauren Druid form released, cat form

Blizzard put up it’s 3rd installment of changes to the graphics for druid forms. Below you’ll find the pictures. I’m having trouble deciding which one I like the most. Lower right is pretty cool. I can see that being the more “girl” texture and the left ones being more male. That’s just my .02! I love these changes. Really well done!

New Ride from Orgimmar to Thunder bluff (5 years too late)

Blizzard announced a much anticipated change (kidding). There will now be a round-trip ride from Orgimmar to Thunder Bluff. This was a pain for any Tauren who start leveling in the Mulgore area, which contains Thunder Bluff to get to any of the quests out of Orgimmar. It was easily a 10-15 minute run (felt like 15 years) and a giant pain early on. And yeah, I’d do that damn run to Org then hearth back to my inn in Mulgore and not actually get the flight path making me have to do that run all over again.Exact words from Blizzard Below.

“The Zephyr is getting set to transport players between Orgrimmar and Thunder Bluff in an upcoming patch.”

World of Fail?

I had to use that word. Just had to. MMO-Champion reported on this but also the Wall Street Journal…? Slow news week? The9 lost their rights to World of Warcraft and are now doing something called WoF. It’s a link to something in China so Keylogger beware. Yes, we’re that paranoid here. I’m sure this is just some reach for press, I’d do it to if I were them however this decision has no bearing upon me or my fellow us based gamers but still, people need to make money. It’s probably the most gut wretching thing to have someone who propped you up with business pull out. Ouch.

1 More day of gaming till i’m back on the fallout 3 kick. Truth be told I might wait a day to see how the download goes considering how many problems they had with the Pitt. From Kotaku: the evidence. Just sayin’
That's a lot of lazer beams!

GBU for Wrath of the Lich King

3.1 just dropped so I want to do a GBU on the game while it’s still fresh but with the benefit of having some distance to see the kinks that have been worked out. First things first. This is a gigantic MMO and completely impossible to keep this contained to a few lines of text. It will be a little longer than all others we do. So lets start a t(drip) down the mainline..

Good – Questing. 100 percent more enjoyable AND memorable. This time not only are you poisioning the aldor party punch you are hosting the party, setting up the tables and calling the cops in to end it. Your role is almost one of a hero as you fit into the story and development of the game, especially in dragonblight and the Wrath Gate event. They did fall back into old habits in Grizzly Hills and parts of Sholazar Basin with kill 20 things but you do need this in a mmo with 1.5 million xp. Questing is not rewarded enough. The zones are amazing looking and the music almost as good with one exception. Howling Fjord. It’s a 20 second clip on repeat. I have a 8600 256 mb video card,1650×1050 resolution and noticed a 10 frames per second drop. It’s the silent but much needed addition to the game that no one has yet to touch on. Achievements are wonderfull but too many in quantity. Everyone cant be a Rock Star but you can Bind on Equip epic your way to the top now. For the solo player this is a HUGE plus. The new battleground Strand of the Ancients is beyond wonderful. It’s balanced really well so that there is no built in advantage. There is good use of seige weapons and turrets. I love this and run for them every time. There is a bug which has yet to be fixed that starts horde on D every time though. Badge gear is really easy to get and mix and match with other things but this was added at the tail end of Burning Crusade.

Bad – Raid content. Naxx was a wonderful idea at the time and I was in support of it but it’s execution and dumbing down was surprising. I went in 3 times and have no interest or, need to go back (see boe epics), It is still a whole afternoon’s commitment to the normal player and I don’t care to do that anymore. This is just age, i’m sure there are green ear’d 15 year old’s ready to leap in and take my place. Arena is still a mini game that continues to affect the rest of the game and the new maps leave something to be desired. Heroics are still the same with only a more hp or a extra move. It’s the 5 level 82 elite trash banging on you that make it really hard. Nothing changed in that respect but if it aient broke don’t fix it? I’ll buy it.

Ugly – The gear. Sure I didn’t like the clown suit but to swing the exact opposite way and make ONE set look for leveling for each class is showing you’ve got a lack of ideas for gear. We’re 3 xpac’s in, and the gear does look very cool but c’mon, Really? Professions are so vanilla that I just cant bring myself to get into them. Almost all of it is BOE, black smithing has no specialities same as leather working (you can sell all of it so why spec into it?). Talents and professions and classes all bring essentially the same thing now with debuffs so the idea that everyone can do everything is great but are the downsides worse than what was before? I’m glad that I dont have to not go to something because you HAVE to have a shadow priest but it was the differences that made this game really unique. It’s yet to be really seen though and we are only a few months in but it has changed the overzealous players outlook on the game.
